The Israel Defense Forces said troops killed more than 40 Hamas terrorists in a tunnel beneath Rafah in southern Gaza, an area currently controlled by Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday that the commander of Hamas’s east Rafah battalion, his deputy and key personnel were killed in an attack on Sunday.
Israeli forces killed Mohammed Javad Mohammed al-Bawab, the commander of the Hamas East Rafah battalion who helped carry out the October 7 massacre and attacked IDF troops in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas war, the IDF said in a press release on Thursday. Three other terrorists, including Bawab’s deputy, died along with him.

The group was attacked by Israeli forces as they left the terror tunnels of Rafah.

Some 200 terrorists have been trapped in the tunnel for months, according to Israeli and U.S. officials, but some were later killed or surrendered in clashes with Israeli troops, according to Israeli media reports.
