After months of anticipation, the Hyundai Creta Electric was launched in India on Thursday. The electric vehicle (EV) will be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which kicks off on January 17. According to Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the Creta Electric is the company’s first localized electric SUV and will sit below the Ioniq 5 in the company’s EV range in India. It comes with active air flaps (AAF), front and rear connected LED lights, and aerospace alloy wheels.

With the Creta Electric, Hyundai hopes to compete with other rivals in the mid-size electric SUV segment such as Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Hyundai Creta Electric launch date

Hyundai Creta Electric will be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which will be held from January 17 to 22. The five-seater electric car is available in four models: Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence. Hyundai will offer 8 single-tone and 2 dual-tone color options, including 3 matte colors.

Hyundai Creta Electric Features

Hyundai Motor says the Creta Electric takes design cues from the internal combustion engine (ICE) model and features similar styling elements such as a pixelated graphic front grille, front and rear bumpers, pixelated LED reversing lights and LED taillights. It comes with 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and low rolling resistance (LRR) tyres, which enhance aerodynamics and increase mileage. The Creta Electric comes with the AAF system, which is strategically integrated to manage airflow, keep vehicle components cool and improve aerodynamics.

When purchasing an electric vehicle, customers can choose from two battery pack options – 51.4 kWh (long range) and 42 kWh. The long-range version is said to have a range of up to 473 kilometers on a single charge, while the Creta Electric with a 42kWh battery pack has a range of up to 390 kilometers. When using DC charging, it can charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes, while the 11kW smart connected wall box charger (AC charger) can charge the vehicle from 10% to 100% in 4 hours.

Although Hyundai has not delved into the powertrain of electric vehicles, the Creta Electric (Long Range) can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Just like the ICE Creta, the Creta Electric is packed with technology. It offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, which means electric vehicles can be used to power external devices both inside and outside. Additionally, it has i-Pedal technology that allows the driver to accelerate, slow down and stop the vehicle using only the accelerator pedal.

For added convenience, the Creta Electric comes with a shift-by-wire system that uses an electronic link between the gear lever and gearbox instead of a mechanical link. This is said to result in a more futuristic driving experience.
