HSV coach Merlin Polzin hopeful of keeping Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic

Luka Vuskovic has enjoyed huge success since joining Hamburg on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

Keeping the young centre-back until the end of the season could be a challenge given his stellar performances, but HSV head coach Merlin Polzin isn’t giving up hope.

“I’m a believer. Of course I also have a football-romantic belief in the unimaginable,” Bolzin told Bild.

“Despite this, there is still a clear contractual agreement between the clubs,” he added, referring to the fact that Vuskovic will return to Tottenham in the summer.

Is Luka Vuskovic willing to stay at HSV?

Vuskovic has previously expressed a desire to stay in Hamburg, telling Sport Bild last month that he hoped to make a decision after the World Cup in Croatia.

“We will decide after the World Cup what is next and what is best for me,” Vuskovic said.

One factor that may have influenced his decision was the chance to compete alongside his brother Mario Vuskovic, who is suspended until October due to a doping ban.

The 18-year-old defender has made 21 appearances for HSV so far, scoring four goals.
