The NBA playoffs on NBC continue Tuesday night as the San Antonio Spurs host the Portland Trail Blazers in a first-round series on NBC and Peacock.
With the star center, the Spurs won 111-98 in Game 1 Victor Vunbanyama He scored a game-high 35 points in his playoff debut, including 14 points in the fourth quarter. The Frenchman made 5 of 6 three-pointers, setting a record for points scored and three-pointers made in a Spurs playoff debut.

This is the fifth playoff series between the Trail Blazers and Spurs since 2014. The San Antonio Spurs have defeated Portland in the past three series en route to winning the NBA championship in 1999 and 2014.

Wembunyama’s breakout performance came on the way to being a historic finalist for the NBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards. He has a chance to become just the fourth player to win MVP and DPOY – previous achievers include Michael Jordan (1987-88), Hakeem Olajuwon (1993-94) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (2019-20).
“When I first stepped on the court to warm up, I could feel the difference in the atmosphere,” Vunbanyama said.
Spurs also had a strong supporting cast in Game 1, with four players scoring in double figures along with Vembanyama. backcourt duo stephens castle and De’Aaron Fox The two combined for 34 points (17 each) and accounted for 15 of the team’s 24 assists. all star forward Deni Avdija The Trail Blazers scored 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The 25-year-old from Israel is the first Portland player to post 30/10/5 numbers in the playoffs and only the third player in NBA history to accomplish the feat in his postseason debut.
“For a lot of us, this is our first playoff game, including myself,” Avdija said. “I do feel like we could have played better… It wasn’t our greatest game. But I think part of it is playing the first playoff game in this environment. It’s a little bit shocking, to be honest.”
Scoot Henderson was the only Portland starter to score in double figures along with Avdija (18 points).
