How to Take Screenshots on the Xbox One and Share Them

Many people think of gamers as loners who spend countless hours in their basement playing their favorite games. Well, that’s probably true, but when we come across something beautiful – like the perfect goal in FIFA or the finish-line photo in Forza Horizon 2 – we like to share it with our friends just like the next person.

Microsoft may not have gotten around to adding screenshot functionality to the Xbox One when it launched, but a recent update brings the feature to the shiny console. Here’s how to take a screenshot on Microsoft Xbox One:

  1. While playing a game, double-click the Xbox button on your controller to capture a screenshot, then press Y to save the screenshot. Or, if you’re one of the few people who has a Kinect plugged into an Xbox One, you can say “Xbox, take screenshot” to take and save a screenshot.

  2. After saving the screenshot. Press the Xbox button to pause the game.

  3. Go to Upload application On your Xbox One, then select the screenshot you want to share Manage Capture.

  4. Press the menu button and select share.
  5. Screenshots can be uploaded to Twitter, OneDrive, your Xbox activity feed, private messages, or for your own personal presentation. Select the service you want to upload it to.

That’s it – taking screenshots from your Xbox One and sharing them couldn’t be easier, right?

please note:

  1. The first time you connect to Twitter or OneDrive on Xbox One, you’ll need to enter your username and password for the service.

  2. While Twitter lets you upload multiple images on other devices, on Xbox One you can only upload one image at a time.
