WhatsApp now allows you to permanently hide a chat by archiving it, even if there are new messages in that conversation. This feature from the Facebook-owned messaging company is a great way to shut down unwanted conversations and prevent them from showing up on your main chat list. Archive folders essentially allow users to ignore groups or individuals without having to block them.
Until recently, WhatsApp allowed users to archive chats that kept them hidden until a new message appeared in the group, then automatically unarchived. In July, WhatsApp announced a new archived chat setting that allows users to mute archived chats even if they receive a new message in the archived message thread. This means that all your archived chats will be permanently hidden unless you choose to unarchive them manually.
