WhatsApp now allows you to permanently hide chats by archiving them, even if new messages appear in that conversation. This feature from the Facebook-owned messaging company is a great way to close unwanted conversations and prevent them from showing up in your main chat list. Archive folders essentially allow users to ignore a group or individual without having to block them.
Until recently, WhatsApp allowed users to archive chats, thereby hiding them until a new message was received in the group, after which the group was automatically unarchived. In July, WhatsApp announced a new “Archived Chats” setting that would allow users to mute archived chats even when they receive new messages in archived message threads. This means that all your archived chats will be permanently hidden unless you choose to manually unarchive them.
How to hide chat history on WhatsApp permanently
A new “Archive” setting allows users to archive less important conversations, hiding them from the main chat list. Users will not receive notifications for archived chats unless you are mentioned or replied to. Both individual and group chats can be archived and can be accessed at any time in the Archived section. To hide a chat, follow these simple steps:

Open WhatsAppselect the chat you want to archive. It can be a group chat or an individual chat.

Three options will appear at the top. Pin, Mute, and Archive (down arrow icon). click Archive button.

The archived section will appear at the top of the chat feed. You can enter this section at any time and view hidden chats. Users can chat by selecting and clicking Unarchive Options (up arrow icon) are at the top.

If you want to archive all chats, go to Chats tab and click More > Settings. Click Chat > Chat History > Archive all chats.
