WhatsApp is rolling out voice calling feature to all Android users. WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app with over 700 million monthly active users, recently rolled out the feature, which will initially be available to only a handful of users. However, since then, WhatsApp has started offering free voice calls to all Android users.

If you’re not using an Android device, you’ll have to wait a while to get this feature. But if you are using Android and have not activated voice calling on WhatsApp, you can follow this process. If these steps don’t work, WhatsApp may have temporarily paused the rollout and you should try again after some time.

Download the latest version of WhatsApp for Android from here. The latest version on the WhatsApp website is December 2, 2014but if you downloaded from Google Play, make sure your device has the version 2.11.561. Older versions do not support this feature for all users.

After installing the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android phone, ask someone who has enabled the WhatsApp calling feature to make a WhatsApp call to your number.

Multiple users have reported that making missed calls doesn’t work. You must answer the call and wait a few seconds before disconnecting to activate WhatsApp voice calls.

After enabling the feature on your smartphone, you will see a new three-tab layout on WhatsApp, one each for Calls, Chats, and Contacts.
