How should Chelsea line up against lower-league Cardiff City in the League Cup?

Chelsea’s next game is the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, where we face the only remaining lower-league team in the competition, third-tier Cardiff City.

It sounds easy on paper, but we’re on the road and the Blue Jays lead their division, so they’re not going to build confidence anytime soon. At the same time, for us, you never know which Chelsea team is going to show up.

Enzo Maresca warned against complacency, which is always the main concern in these situations. The best way to deal with this is usually through rotation, although for us rotation often means a serious drop in performance levels on the pitch and the quality of results on the scoreboard. With Maresca under pressure after his recent winless run, he certainly can’t afford an unexpected exit here.

While we have no new injuries, the likes of Cole Palmer and Wesley Fofana will likely get rest regardless.

Choose wisely.
