Honda Elevate First Look: Features, Engine Options, and More

Honda has launched some very cool and feature-rich cars in the past, but we haven’t seen a new model in India in many years. The Japanese automaker has now announced its latest SUV, the Elevate, at an event in New Delhi and we got a chance to take a look at it. In this article, I will tell you what I think about the latest Honda SUV Elevate.

Honda Elevate: Design

At first glance, the Honda Elevate looks similar to the Mahindra XUV 300, at least from the side. However, when you look at it from the front, it’s a completely different story.

With a sporty body kit and flat fenders and front grille, the car does feature a new design language that may appeal to many buyers. The car has a dual-tone design with glossy paint and black matte splash guards. At the front of the car, it has stylish LED lights and fog lights located right below it. The Honda logo stands out from the chrome rails on the hood and blackened front grille.

The Elevate does look premium with its black side mirrors and built-in LED indicators. The door has chrome handles that don’t feel cheap, and the door itself feels very secure, opening and closing with just the right amount of force in my opinion. At the back, the Honda Elevate sports the Honda logo on the chrome rails, which blends in with the sharp-looking LED light clusters.

Honda Elevate’s trunk space reaches 458L

The SUV is 4,312 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,650 mm high. It has a ground clearance of 220 mm, which I think should be fine for daily driving in most parts of India. The Elevate’s wheelbase is 2,650 mm. According to the brand, the Honda Elevate will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in India.

Honda Elevate: Performance

The Honda Elevate will be equipped with a 1.5-liter i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine with VTC, which is said to produce 121ps of power and 145Nm of maximum torque between 4,300-6,600rpm. It will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed CVT variant, which should be suitable for a mid-size SUV like this.

We got our hands on the high-end and stylized version of the car, which comes packed with features. These include leather upholstery, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto support, auxiliary rearview mirrors, auxiliary side-view monitors, Qi wireless charging for smartphones and a large 458-litre boot.

Honda Elevate: Other noteworthy features

Honda Elevate comes with one-touch power sunroof, six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist, hill start assist, multi-angle rear camera, adaptive cruise control and more.

What do we think about this?

The Honda Elevate is definitely a fun midsize SUV that will likely appeal to Honda fans who want an SUV feel in their next vehicle. As mentioned earlier, the Elevate competes with the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta and is likely to be priced similarly to its main rivals. At first glance, this car should be suitable enough for city use as it offers a lot of features that should make your ride comfortable. Interestingly, Honda also revealed that an electric version of the Elevate is under development and may land in India in due course.
