As summer-like temperatures draw many Southern Californians to the coast, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Wednesday advised residents to avoid contact with ocean water at several beaches where bacteria levels exceeded state health standards.
This warning applies to the following locations:

Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro
The entire swimming area. -
Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach
100 meters from the pier along the coastline. -
Redondo Beach Redondo Beach Pier
100 meters from the pier along the coastline. -
Redondo Beach I Avenue Storm Drain
100 yards from the storm drain along the coast. -
Torrance Beach in the Bay of Malaga, north of the RAT Beach Tower
100 yards along the coast from the lifeguard tower. -
Pena Creek at Las Tunas County Beach
100 meters from the creek shore. -
Santa Monica Beach Montana Avenue Storm Drain, Santa Monica North Tower 8
100 yards from the storm drain along the coast. -
Santa Monica Beach Wilshire Boulevard Storm Drain, Santa Monica North Tower 12
100 yards from the storm drain along the coast. -
Marina del Rey Mother Beach
The entire swimming area. -
Will Rogers State Beach Santa Monica Canyon Storm Drain
100 meters from the creek shore. -
Santa Monica Pier at Santa Monica State Beach
100 meters from the pier along the coastline.

The advisories come as Southern California experiences unusually warm weather in early February.
By around 10 a.m., temperatures have risen along the coast, skies are clearing, and beach conditions are more typical of midsummer.
