Hezbollah ‘dissatisfied’ with Iran funding, demands for $2 billion in post-war aid

Last year, Tehran transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Hezbollah to rebuild its forces, which had been downsized by the war with Israel.

Hezbollah complained that Iran was not transferring funds to the terror group, KAN reported on Monday.

Senior Hezbollah figures and Iran’s Quds Force have been discussing over the past few months how much financial resources Tehran will allocate to Hezbollah this year.

According to KAN, Hezbollah is demanding $2 billion, twice the amount Iran plans to provide to the terror group.

In 2024, Tehran transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Hezbollah to rebuild its forces, which had been downsized due to the war with Israel.

Although the war situation has triggered changes in Lebanon’s fiscal balance, active members of Hezbollah continue to receive monthly salaries that are high by Lebanese standards.

Although Hezbollah continues to purchase weapons and there is no financial impact on ground troops, wages, manpower, recruitment and training, the terrorist group remains dissatisfied.

According to KAN, since the war with Israel has resulted in huge losses and declines in the weapons and equipment accumulated in a short period of time over two decades, Hezbollah has asked Iran to provide more funds, as rebuilding these capabilities requires huge financial resources.

Recent financial developments in Iran

Despite an unprecedented domestic water crisis, rolling blackouts and severe air pollution, Iran has funneled approximately $1 billion to Hezbollah over the past five months through smuggling routes in northern Iraq, Syria and Turkey.

After the war, the regime remained in “complete denial” and prioritized regional agency over basic services.

As a result, he said, the billions flowing to terrorist groups are not invested in water, electricity or pollution abatement. Meanwhile, ordinary Iranians are “burdened” with no organized opposition leadership to challenge the regime.
