New year, new bets…let’s get started.

In the new common thread, Sean O’Malley and Song Yadong Clash in a fun high-level showdown filled with fireworks. I’m locked in this week O’Malley won by a +110 decision.

Here’s why:

It was O’Malley’s first three-round fight since his narrow victory Yan Peter 2022 – This fight proved he can fight patiently, control distance and rack up damage without forcing reckless exchanges. O’Malley remains one of the most accurate and creative forwards in the sport. His timing, footwork and ability to shoot cleanly from unorthodox angles make him a nightmare in the long game.

Motivation is also a major factor. O’Malley, coming off a two-game losing streak, knew the stakes. A loss would be absolutely devastating for him, but a win could push him back into title contention, especially given his star power. Expect a disciplined, measured approach—not a wild squabble. I think we’re going to see a smarter version of “Suga” who’s content with winning rounds rather than chasing highlights.

At the same time, the Yadong team is equally strong. He has only been suspended once in his entire career, and that was due to a doctor’s suspension against Corey Sandhagen. His endurance is outstanding and he has proven time and time again that he can absorb damage and keep going. However, Song tends to take a lot of hits. Had he not been wrestling or grappling, he would have likely been defeated by the longer, sharper O’Malley in three rounds.

That combination—O’Malley’s precision and Song’s toughness—makes the decision-making results extremely attractive, especially with the added money.

What could possibly go wrong?

The obvious danger is that O’Malley ends up being the one to break Song’s jaw. If he finds the perfect shot, his decision-making goes out the window. While I don’t think Song will win this fight, O’Malley is dangerous enough to take out anyone at any time.

Still, O’Malley’s +110 decision felt like one of the sharpest value plays at UFC 324, both stylistically and situationally.

Anyway, this X/Twitter user also collaborated with O’Malley.
