The weather in the Bay Area will reset this week, with light rain possible on Monday and breezy conditions ahead of the warm-up midweek weekend.
After a record-breaking warm spell in late February, March begins with cooler weather on Sunday, with morning fog and drizzle in the coastal mountains. It’s expected to return again on Monday morning, but more drizzle and showers are possible, with sudden showers possible in the inland mountains in the afternoon. Rain is likely to remain on Wednesday, but showers may still develop north of Kinmen.
Wind will be the most noticeable weather effect for the rest of the week.

Mild northwest winds are expected Wednesday afternoon, with gusts possible as high as 35 mph along the coast and in the mountains. Winds will shift to the north-northeast on Thursday, peaking on Friday, and may be similar in the mountains.
These northeastern winds, known as diablos, are dry, warm winds that may bring fire danger but are unlikely to cause major problems this week.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 60s by Wednesday, but some 70s are possible by Thursday. By Friday, temperatures will rise into the 70s in most areas. The warmer-than-normal weather is likely to continue through the weekend and into next week, with no storms in sight until mid-March.
Monday breakdown
San Francisco: In the morning, there will be drizzle in the mountains and intermittent light showers elsewhere. It’s hard to say it’s raining, but it just brings a little inconvenience to the morning commute. Skies will brighten by noon and temperatures will rise to around 50 degrees. Breezes from the northwest may reach 15 mph in the afternoon. Nighttime lows will be around 50 degrees with mist.
North Bay: Light rain is likely in Sonoma and Marin counties before 9 a.m. before clouds begin to clear. In the afternoon, clouds rolled over the mountains, and the possibility of local showers could not be ruled out. Some showers may move from the mountains into the valleys, but most cities will remain dry. Highs will be around 60 degrees with light and variable winds. Temperatures will be cooler than recent nights, dropping into the mid-40s.
East Bay: Morning showers should be limited to the Berkeley and Oakland mountains and tilt west, with maximum amounts of a few hundredths of an inch possible in Richmond and Berkeley. East of Caddick Tunnel, cloud cover will only increase and there will be no morning drizzle. In the afternoon, clouds over the mountains may produce brief showers that drift toward Tam Valley. Highs in the East Bay will be in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s.
Pacific Coast and Peninsula: Drizzle is expected around 10 a.m. in Daly City, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay, then skies will clear with some to mostly sunshine in the afternoon. Highs will be in the 60s. The Highway 101 and Interstate 280 corridors will likely remain mostly dry, but the possibility of morning showers cannot be ruled out, especially around San Bruno and South San Francisco. Highs will be in the mid-60s in these cities, with highs in the mid-60s in San Mateo and Redwood City. Lows will be in the low 40s to low 50s.
South Bay and Santa Cruz: The South Bay may miss out on showers in the morning, but another window of opportunity may appear in the afternoon. Clouds over the hills are expected to bring brief showers that may drift over Boulder Creek, Morgan Hill, Santa Cruz, Los Gatos and other communities in the Foothills. However, most areas will be dry. Highs will be in the mid-60s and lows will be in the mid-40s.
