An angry federal judge in New Jersey kicked a prosecutor out of the courtroom on Monday after a contentious sentencing hearing in a child porn case and ordered top officials from the local U.S. attorney’s office to testify about who actually ran their offices.

Upon further questioning, Quraishi found Rosenblum’s answers unsatisfactory and said he expected the trio to testify next week so he could “find out who is currently running this office before proceeding with today’s sentencing hearing.”
“You have lost the confidence and trust of the court,” the judge admonished Rosenbloom. “You have lost the confidence and trust of New Jersey’s legal community, and you are losing the trust and confidence of the public.”
According to the Justice Department’s original indictment against Villafane, the defendant engaged in an “online sexual relationship” with a 13-year-old girl, exchanging more than 7,000 messages with her instructing her to send him sexually explicit photos and videos of herself.
“I would spend my life in prison to be with you,” Villafane texted the victim in October 2023.
