Heat beat the Nets 106-95 to snap a 5-game losing streak

NEW YORK (AP) — Norman Powell scored 24 points, Kyle Ware had 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks and the Miami Heat snapped a five-game losing streak with a 106-95 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored 19 points and Bam Adebayo had 17 rebounds, although the Heat won foul trouble for the second time in December. They matched their previous record in December with 13 wins this month, but are 1-5 since then.

Michael Porter Jr. scored 28 points for the Nets, who fell into a cold start after tying the most disparate victory in franchise history in their last game. Nick Claxton had 16 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists.

Brooklyn defeated Milwaukee 127-82 on Sunday, but shot less than 39% from the field in the game and scored just 11 points on 49 three-pointers (22%).

Still, the Heat only led 86-82 with less than five minutes left in the game. With 4 minutes and 01 seconds left in the game, Weir hit a three-pointer, Jax scored consecutive shots, and the Heat led 93-82.

The Nets missed 10 of 13 three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
