Haydn Fleury ends 2-year goal drought as the Jets edge the Blues 3-2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Hayden Fleury scored his first goal in more than two years and added an assist, Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele each scored their 31st goals and the Winnipeg Jets beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on Sunday.

Eric Comrie made a career-high 29 saves in his 21st start of the season and first since Feb. 25, giving him a personal-best 11 wins. The win also extended the backup’s winning streak to five games, the longest streak of the season for a Jets goaltender. Starter Connor Hellebuyck played four games in October.

Fleury gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead at 2:31 of the first period, scoring his first goal in his 64th game since joining the Jets as a free agent in July 2024. Fleury last scored on December 19, 2023, while playing for Tampa Bay. This is also Fleury’s first assist this season. He has made 25 appearances this season. He played 39 games for Winnipeg last season and had seven assists.

Dalibor Dworski and Dylan Holloway scored for the Blues, who lost their first regular season game in March (6-1-1), ending their seven-game winning streak. Jordan Binnington stopped 13 shots.

Senator 7, Shark 4

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Derek Batherson scored twice to help Ottawa beat San Jose to win the game.

With the game tied at 4 with 6:52 left, Batherson gave the Senators (34-23-9) the lead, but when he turned to protect himself, Artem Zub’s shot bounced off him.

MONTREAL (AP) — Cutter Gauthier scored with 2:30 left and Leo Carlsson had two goals and an assist as Anaheim beat Montreal to regain the Pacific Division lead.

Gauthier, alone in front of the net, received a behind-the-back pass from Jeffrey Weir and fired a shot past goalie Jacob Fowler.

Troy Terry returned from an upper-body injury and added a goal and two assists to help Anaheim improve to 37-27-3, one point ahead of Vegas in the Pacific Division. Chris Kreider had two assists and Lukas Dostal made 27 saves.

Terry missed nine games. With 4:21 left in the five-goal second period, his pass deflected off a skate by Montreal forward Josh Anderson and over Fowler’s shoulder to tie the game at 3.

Nick Suzuki had a goal and an assist for Montreal, and Alex Newhook and Cole Caufield also scored. Fowler stopped 24 shots in his second start since being recalled by the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket on Wednesday.

Maple Leaf 4, Wild 2

Morgan Rielly also scored and Matthew Knies scored for Toronto, helping Minnesota fight back from a three-goal deficit after two periods.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice for the Wild. Jesper Wohlstetter made 22 saves.

Over the span of four days, the Wild have scored just one point in three home games against non-playoff teams in the East — a shootout loss to the Flyers on Thursday, a loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday and a loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.

Oilers 3, Predators 1

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Connor McDavid had three assists and teammate Leon Draisaitl scored but was injured shortly after as Edmonton beat Nashville to snap a two-game losing streak.

Draisaitl took a heavy hit early on from Ozzy Wiesblatt. The Edmonton star returned for a few shifts but did not return at the start of the second quarter.

Matthew Savoy and Zach Hyman also scored for Edmonton, and Connor Ingram made 26 saves. The Oilers have a record of 16 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses in their past 20 games against Nashville.

Fedor Svechkov scored for the Predators and Justus Annunen stopped 27 shots. They have lost six of eight games.

Kraken 6, Black Panther 2

SEATTLE (AP) — Bobby McMahon had a goal and an assist in his second game for Seattle and the Kraken beat the Florida Panthers 6-2 on Sunday night to move into the Western Conference’s second wild-card berth.

McMahon scored two goals and added an assist in his Kraken debut on Saturday night in a 5-2 win over Vancouver. He flew from Toronto to Seattle before the trade deadline but was delayed due to visa issues that were resolved Friday.

Against Florida State, McMahon scored his 22nd goal of the season and assisted on Jamie Oleksiak’s goal. Oleksiak also had two assists.

Two-time defending champion Florida is in danger of becoming the first Cup-winning team since Los Angeles in 2014-15 to miss next season’s playoffs. The Panthers are 11 points away from the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
