The Matthews, N.C.-based grocer is closing its location in 4093 Davis Avenue, Morrisvillelocated in McCrimmon Corners Shopping Center.

Harris Teeter has several stores near Cary and many others throughout the Triangle area. The McCrimmon Corners store is located just a few miles from several other major grocery chains, including Wegmans, Food Lion, Walmart, Whole Foods Market and Target.

Harris Teeter did not give a specific reason for closing the store, which also houses a pharmacy and a Starbucks, but said the decision was made “after careful consideration and strategic market review.”

The Morrisville store, which employs about 70-80 people, first learned of the closing in mid-February. Harris Teeter said they will have the opportunity to move to other locations.

The Triangle Business Journal first reported the news.

McCrimmon Corners is also home to retailers such as Pizza Hut and Petland.

Harris Teeter store closed

This is the second Harris Teeter store to close in the Triangle in recent months.

The chain’s Raleigh location is located in 5563 Western Blvd. Three other Harris Teeter stores in Virginia and one in Maryland also closed last summer.

“Harris Teeter has made the strategic decision to close these stores after careful consideration,” the company said in a statement to The N&O at the time.

According to a previous report by USA Today, Kroger, the parent company of Harris Teeter, announced in June last year that it would close 60 stores by December 2026.
