ARLINGTON, Texas – Two teams will make their first appearance in the Intercollegiate Conference football championship game.

On Wednesday night, either Hamilton or Joaquin will win its first-ever state championship. The Bulldogs of Hamilton take on the Rams of Joaquin at AT&T Stadium for the UIL 2A Division I championship.

Hamilton has an overall record of 13 wins and 2 losses. The Bulldogs enter Wednesday’s championship game with ten straight wins.
In the playoffs, they defeated Tioga 42-20 in the bi-district round. They were held to 29 points or less in each of their next four games but continued to find ways to win, including a 28-12 win over the West Texas Stinnets in the semifinals last week.

It was also the first time for Joaquin to come to “Jerry World”. The Rams finished the regular season with a 6-4 record, but took things to the next level in the playoffs.
Joaquin scored at least 35 points in all five playoff wins, including 74 points in the regional semifinals against Elysian Fields. The Rams defeated Refugio 37-28 in last week’s semifinals.

– Joaquin scored his first knockdown in the Bulldogs’ 40th game on Hamilton territory.
– Short kickoff, Joaquin kicks it off around the 30 and the Rams drive it a few yards to the 35 where they will set up.
