Grizzlies snap a 6-game losing streak with a 137-128 victory over the Timberwolves

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 30 points and Ty Jerome scored 19 as Memphis built a 20-point second-half lead and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 137-128 on Monday night.

Memphis held a double-digit advantage for most of the fourth quarter. Minnesota, led by Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards, seemed poised to overtake Memphis, but the Grizzlies never let the Timberwolves trail by nine points, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Jalen Wells scored 18 points for Memphis, and Cam Spencer and Vince Williams Jr. each had 16 points.

Edwards led the Timberwolves with 39 points and seven rebounds. Jaden McDaniels scored 29 points and DiVincenzo scored 21 points, including 13 points in the fourth quarter. Minnesota’s four-game winning streak was snapped.

The Timberwolves defeated Memphis 131-114 on Saturday in the first consecutive meeting between the two teams. In that game, Edwards scored 33 points, Julius Randle scored 27 points, and the Timberwolves had four players score at least 20 points.

Memphis hit one of its first 18 3-pointers on Saturday. The Grizzlies used long-range shots to build a double-digit lead in the first half on Monday. Memphis made 8 of 15 shots from beyond the arc and their lead reached 14 points. The Grizzlies led 66-58 at halftime.

After three quarters, Memphis led 98-86 and made its first four shots in the fourth quarter, including three-pointers, extending its advantage to 109-89.
