Sony will celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises, God of War, on March 22. The company announced new gameplay content for God of War Ragnarok, 20th anniversary merchandise, an art exhibit, and more to mark the occasion. As part of the celebration, PlayStation parent company will release the Dark Odyssey Collection of the latest games in the series, which includes character and weapon skins, armor sets, and more.
God of War Ragnarok Update
Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog on Friday that the free Dark Odyssey Collection update for God of War Ragnarok will be available on PS5 and PC later this week, March 20. The series will bring the black and gold skins of Kratos from God of War 2. In addition to the special appearance, the character will receive the Dark Odyssey armor set, which includes a chest plate, bracers, and a belt.
The collection also includes Dark Odyssey-themed armor for companion characters Atreus and Freya. In addition to player skins and armor sets, the update also includes Dark Odyssey weapon skins and attachments for three of the game’s weapons – the Leviathan Ax, Chaos Blade, and Draupnir Spear.
In addition to the new Dark Odyssey-themed Rond attachment, Kratos’ shield also gets a new look. The update will also add the ability to edit the appearance of weapons and shield attachments.
In addition to the God of War Ragnarok update launching later this week, PlayStation has released a God of War 20th Anniversary Fan Kit, which includes banners, icons, desktop and mobile wallpapers. On March 20, Sony will also add anniversary-themed items to the Steam Points Store for PC players, while PS5 players will receive a 20th-anniversary-themed PlayStation Network Avatar for free.
Sony also plans to hold a 20th anniversary art exhibition in Los Angeles, USA, new merchandise, a two-volume retrospective book covering the history of the series, art prints, limited edition vinyl records, etc.
Finally, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium members can access God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok in the Games Catalog, while Premium subscribers can access God of War III Remastered through the Classics Catalog.
For PC users, God of War and its sequel God of War Ragnarok are available on Steam and the Epic Games Store until March 20.
