Things didn’t go as planned for former UFC veteran Sam Alvey at Karate Combat 58 last night (Friday, December 5, 2025) in Doral, Florida, with “Smile’n” Vicious knockout defeat Tall forward Robellis Despaigne. Alvey, in turn, won his Karate Fighting Heavyweight Championship.
Believe it or not, Alvey revitalize his career Since parting ways with the UFC in 2022. Entering Friday night, the grappling veteran had a 4-0 (1 NC) record under the Karate Fighting banner, including two successful defenses of the heavyweight title. The 39-year-old fighter was literally in tears.

After the defeat, Alvey took to social media to send a message to his fans. The former UFC veteran seemed to be in good spirits, but the loss was still hard to swallow.
