Another day, coach Heather Tarr and the Washington Huskies notched another rule victory as they easily defeated the Maryland Terrapins 12-2 in five innings.
Washington got off to a slow start and fell behind quickly on a cold night in Seattle, and the Terrapins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double from designated player Anna McGowan, but from that point on, it was all the Huskies.

Star Alexis DeBoer got the party started with a two-run single, scoring two runs as part of a day that also drove in a bases-loaded and pitched hit. She hit one of the runs on the next batter when third baseman Giselle Alvarez hit her eighth home run of the season, a two-run blast.
That left her just one run shy of going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs, giving the Huskies a 4-1 lead at the end of the second inning.
After a five-run triple in the third inning, Gabby Toney hit a two-run triple and Jardine Grubb sent the fans home happy in the fifth. With two runners on and no outs, she hit her fifth home run of the season over the left field fence and ended her day in walk-off style, going 2-for-2 with two walks and four RBIs.

The victory helped starter Sofia Ramuno go 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits (the other was a solo home run by first baseman Maria Penta), 2 walks and 2 strikeouts, improving the record to 6-2. Aubrey Wurst took the loss for the Terps, who gave up four runs on five hits, five walks and two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings, dropping their record to 2-4 on the year.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 20-6 on the year and 4-0 in the Big Ten Conference, and the two teams will return to the court for the second game of a three-game series on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. PT.
