Like the Patriots a year ago, the Giants have a promising quarterback entering his second NFL season: Jaxson Dart. Like the Patriots, the Giants just hired a proven, veteran head coach in John Harbaugh. New York has some issues, whether it’s the health of players like running back Cam Scatebo and wide receiver Malik Nabors, the impending free agency of key contributors like wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, or a less-than-ideal salary cap situation. But teams without cap space create a lot of cap space every year through restructuring and releases. New York quietly has a top-10 offensive line in 2025. And there’s something there defensively, especially in the frontcourt.
The Patriots aren’t the only four-win team to make the playoffs in 2025, the Jacksonville Jaguars have done it too. In 2026, it may be the G-Men’s turn.

Support Jackson Dart. In 13 losses (seven of them by one score), it’s easy to forget that the Giants lost their true No. 1 receiver Malik Nabers to injury (as well as their spark plug starting running back Cam Scatebo). According to NFL Pro, they don’t have a single receiver with 50+ targets and a better-than-expected catch rate, as Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and even tight end Theo Johnson have struggled to maintain a consistent output in Nabors’ absence. New York also posted the seventh-highest pressure rate in the league (37.8 percent), and right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, the team’s leader in pressures and sacks, is set to become a free agent. If this team builds better around promising young quarterback Jaxon Dart, they could take a big leap — which could mean a legitimate WR2 and a new right tackle. Maybe Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate or the Miami Heat take on Francis Mauigoa in the draft, or names like free agents Alec Pierce and Braden Smith.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Riley had high praise for John Harbaugh, calling the new New York Giants head coach a “great cultural piece.”
“I feel like Harbaugh has a great mantra; a great culture. I feel like he’s going to tell the Giants — I mean, he’s got to call it something else — but ‘Play like a Raven’ is definitely his mantra,” Lackley said. “When you play the Ravens, when you put on a Ravens uniform, you understand what it means to wear the black and purple. That is, you’re going to play violently, you’re going to be disciplined, you’re going to chase it, gnash your teeth, gnash your teeth.”

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes the Giants’ second-round help could be waiting in the second round. Jeremiah spoke to the media on Thursday to talk about his latest mock draft and preview the 2026 NFL Combine. When asked about secondary help available in the second round (No. 37 overall), Jeremiah liked who could still be on the board. The first player he discussed was Clemson cornerback Avion Terrell.

Other defensive backs Jeremiah mentioned include South Carolina cornerback Gerald Kilgore, who he said could be available if the Giants move down a few spots in the second round. He also mentioned Arizona’s Treyvon Stukes as a possibility if the Giants acquire a third-round pick.

Giants receive: CB Marlon Humphrey. The Ravens received: 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 105), 2026 sixth-round pick (No. 191). Level 2 is a specific unit that could use some veteran leadership. Cordell Float, Paulson Adebo and Andrew Phillips have been the mainstays at cornerback this season. None are a fundamental part of truly moving forward. Humphrey may be at the end of his prime. He’s 29 years old and his 2025 season isn’t going to be the season he was named to the 2024 All-Pro team. However, his versatility to play both on and off the field, combined with his experience at Harbaugh, could make him a solid addition to New York’s secondary.
The other three trades currently on the roster involving the Giants are: Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux sent to Tampa Bay for a 2026 third-round pick (No. 77); CB Deonte Banks to the Green Bay Packers for a 2026 sixth-round pick (No. 200); DT Dexter Lawrence to the Green Bay Packers for a 2026 sixth-round pick (No. 192) to Cincinnati for a 2026 second-round pick (No. 41 ) and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Giants not expected to receive any compensatory draft picks over cap
Over the Cap projects that the New York Giants will not have any compensatory selections in the 2026 NFL Draft when the league makes the announcement next month. Their free-agent spending spree in 2025 will prove to be more expensive, as they signed six eligible free agents and lost only one last season.

The Giants added cornerback Paulson Adebo, safety Jevon Holland, offensive lineman James Hudson III, linebacker Chauncey Golston, quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and lost only linebacker Aziz Ojulari to free agency.
