Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy praised his side’s performance at Wycombe Wanderers as “encouraging at times” despite returning from Adams Park with just one point.
The former Manchester City and Leicester boss admitted he was a bit frustrated after seeing his side create a raft of scoring chances in the 1-1 draw on New Year’s Day, but said his players are just “human”.

The result kept Cardiff City three points clear at the top of League One with six changes made as Barry Murphy tries to keep his squad “fresh and ready” ahead of a demanding festive period.
“I can’t really ask for more from the players other than an obvious desire to score goals that we feel we deserve,” he said after the draw with 13th-placed Rangers.
“We dominated the game and created a lot of good chances which we would normally take.
“[At Wycombe] We just couldn’t do it and again I was very happy with most of the performances.

“We went to places like Lincoln and Bolton and put in what we thought was a good performance but didn’t create enough chances.
“We created a lot of chances [against Wycombe] Some of our games were exciting at times. Overall, I am very satisfied with my performance and naturally hope to perform more and score goals. “

Ronan Capacchio, Dylan Lawler, Joel Colwell, Alex Robertson and Omari Kellyman all return to the Bluebirds’ starting line-up at Adams Park, along with Gabriel Osho, who has been sidelined since a dislocated toe in early December.
Barry Murphy was pleased with the performance of centre-back Osho (pictured above), who has had limited playing time since his £1m move from Auxerre in the summer.

“Excellent performance and it’s great to have him back involved and I think more than anything he wants to show his team-mates and supporters what he’s capable of. I think you’ve seen clear signs of what he’s going to bring to our team when he’s fully fit,” he added.
“He had only had a few days of training so he was very tired when he came off the field. We made a lot of changes because we wanted to deliver a really high energy and highly dynamic performance for so many fans and we did that.”
Barry Murphy is now expected to make further changes for Sunday’s home game against Wigan (15:00 GMT).
“I think we have such a young team that has never been through this type of schedule before, so, you know, we think all the players have the ability to play any player at any position, at any stage,” he said.
“It’s not about rotation because we believe in the players so much that we have to reflect that in the teams we choose.”
