HUMBLE, Texas — The Cyclones are playing in Texas for the second straight week. This time, the Houston area hosted the Chevron University Reunion. There are 17 teams in this competition, 10 of which are ranked highly. On Monday, the players played 36 holes, and on Tuesday, they played 18 holes.
Iowa State is tied with SMU for fourth with 858 points through three rounds. The Cyclones shot 292 in the first round, 285 in the second round and 281 in the third round. No. 16 North Carolina won the event. Iowa State is currently ranked No. 27. A total of 3 Big 12 teams participated in this event, with Baylor University ranked third and TCU tied for sixth. Iowa State leads six of the other nine ranked teams in the tournament.

On the final day of competition on February 24, the Cyclones moved up two spots in the final team score to tie for fourth place. Iowa State jumped to 7-under in this season’s championship. Four of Iowa State’s five players shot under par in the final round.
Iowa State’s final round scores were Alexandra Vidal’s 69, Isabella Yan’s 70, Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn’s 71, Pammy Chookaew’s 71 and Nichakorn Pinprayoon’s 73. Vidal had five birdies in the final round. Chukayo also had five birdies in the final round.
After the first day of competition on February 23, the Cyclones finished tied for sixth place with a second-round team score of 3 under par. Nichakorn Pinpraypoon and Pammy Chookaew led Iowa State after the first day of play, finishing tied for 19th at 1-under 143 after two rounds. Alexander Vidal shot over par to tie for 31st and give Iowa State third. Other Cyclone runners included Karisa Chui-Ak-Sorn, who tied for 41st, and Isabella Yan, who tied for 72nd.
The Cyclones will return to action March 20-22 at Mountain View College in Tuscany, Arizona. That game was the Cyclones’ only game in March. After that, Iowa State will play three tournaments in April, the first of which will be at the Wyoming Cowgirls Classic in Maricopa, Arizona, on April 7-8. The Big 12 Championship will be held April 23-25 in Dallas, Texas.

Pinprayoon named Big 12 women’s golfer of the week
Sophomore Nichakorn Pinprayoon recently joined teammate Pammy Chookaew in earning Big 12 honors. Pinprayoon was named Big 12 Golfer of the Week following his first career win. This is her first Big 12 Golfer of the Week award. Last September, Chookaew was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month.
Pinprayoon earned medals in a field of 81 golfers during a recent whirlwind competition ahead of the Texas Golf Downhill Championship. Her match scores were 69-71-70 and she finished with 210 points (-6). Her consistent performance included no bogeys in the final round. She made a total of 10 birdies in 54 holes to help the Cyclones win the tournament.
