The debate surrounding Vinicius Junior and his long-term future at Real Madrid continues to heat up, with contract talks now firmly in the spotlight.
With Vinicius’ relationship with the club stretching until 2027, questions are beginning to emerge as to whether a contract extension will come smoothly or turn into a long saga.

One of the strongest voices on the issue is Predrag Mijatovic, who knows the club from the inside as a former player and former sporting director.
Speaking to Carrousel Deportivo (h/t Mundo Deportivo), he did not hesitate in analyzing the current situation and the demands that are reportedly being discussed.
A warning to Real Madrid and Vinicius
Mijatovic first responded to rumors that Vinicius could seek a contract at the same level as football’s highest-paid players.
He questioned the logic behind such expectations and what they might imply about a player’s intentions. He said,

“If he asks for the same contract now as Mbappe or Messi, it’s clear he doesn’t want to renew; that’s obvious.

“We’re not kids, come on. If he wants to finish his contract at Real Madrid, that’s fine.
“The club must be above any player, no matter who they are, and all players must accept one thing: with Vinicius, Real Madrid will continue to win, even without Vinicius, because Real Madrid always win.”

He then went a step further, outlining the actions he believed Real Madrid would have to take if talks failed to move in the right direction.

In his view, no matter what the player’s status or popularity, the club cannot lose control of the situation.
“Real Madrid always has to be above any player, any person in football because it is the biggest club in the world.
“If Vinicius refuses to renew, Real Madrid will have to do everything possible to move him. Under no circumstances can you let the player or his representatives control you.” he warned.
While Vinicius remains a key figure on the pitch and an icon of the current generation, the message from one former insider is that loyalty to the club’s structure and values trumps any one name.
