Former Panthers WR Adam Thielen claimed off waivers on Tuesday

Well, it looks like Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales no longer has to answer any questions about a possible reunion with Adam Thielen.

As announced this afternoon, the former two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has been claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thielen received a release request from the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

After spending the first decade of his NFL career with the Vikings, Thielen signed a three-year contract with the Panthers ahead of the 2023 season. In his two seasons there, he led the team in receptions — totaling 151 catches for 1,629 yards and nine touchdowns in 27 games.

The Detroit Laker, Minnesota, then returned to his hometown in late August, with Carolina trading Thielen, a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Vikings in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Thielen has appeared in 11 games for the Vikings this season, catching just eight passes for 69 yards.
