Former Chiefs linebacker Darren Lee has been charged with murdering his girlfriend, according to authorities in Tennessee.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at a home in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on Thursday and found a female victim. After attempts at CPR, it was determined she was dead.

“Due to the victim’s condition and residence, HCSO Criminal Investigative Services detectives responded. Preliminary findings indicate the victim’s death was a homicide,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
“The victim’s boyfriend, Darron Lee, was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody at the scene.”
Lee, who played for the Chiefs in 2019, was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Lee played in 16 games that season, but he did not appear in the playoffs as the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
“Lee told (paramedics) he found her unconscious on the couch and thought she might have fallen in the shower, but his statement was inconsistent with the ‘worrying circumstances’ at the home,” the arrest report said, according to Chattanooga’s WRCB-TV.

“Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said they found blood on the walls and floors in multiple locations and broken glass scattered in the kitchen area. They also observed cleaning materials in ‘unusual locations.'”
WRCB reported that medical examiners found the victim had stab wounds to his abdomen, bruises on his head and other injuries.
Lee is being held without bail, with a court date scheduled for Wednesday, the New York Post reported.
