On Jan. 10 at approximately 9:45 p.m., a Stewart Police Department Facebook post stated that residents of an assisted living facility were being evacuated due to mechanical issues with the air conditioning system.
The Police Department is assisting residents with temporary relocation from an assisted living facility on Central Parkway SE in Stewart.
The post did not provide further information, including the name of the facility, how many residents were moved, where they were moved, when the evacuation began and ended, what went wrong with the air conditioning system, or what conditions were like inside the facility.

“For the health, safety and comfort of our residents, the decision has been made to relocate until the issue is resolved,” the post said. “Facility staff will contact families directly with updated information. Please allow sufficient time for information to be provided.”
