The Baltimore Ravens fired John Harbaugh after going 8-9 during the 2025 season and missing the NFL playoffs after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18.
The 63-year-old coach won a Super Bowl during his time in Baltimore with a 180-113 record (.614), but the Ravens have not returned to the Super Bowl since the 2012 season. Harbaugh is now the most prominent coach in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

After practice Friday, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was asked if Harbaugh’s news surprised him.

Payton and Harbaugh overlapped with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998. Harbaugh is the special teams coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Payton is the team’s quarterbacks coach. Payton later became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints in 2006, and Harbaugh became the head coach of the Ravens in 2008. With Payton now coaching in Denver, Harbaugh will fill one of the NFL’s vacancies this offseason.
