Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy did not return to the Fiesta Bowl after suffering an apparent injury during a 73-yard touchdown run in the first half.
The score early in the second quarter was Lacey’s second of the game. After the touchdown, he was replaced in the backfield by backup Logan Diggs. The ESPN broadcast mentioned that Lacey suffered an apparent right hamstring injury.

You can see that Lacy slowed down on his drive for the touchdown, and replays showed that he seemed to struggle as he approached the end zone.
“They’re watching him, so we’ll figure it out at halftime,” Mississippi State coach Pete Goldin said during a halftime interview on ESPN. Lacey’s touchdown was Mississippi’s only score, and the Rebels trailed 17-13 at halftime.
Lacey rushed for 75 yards twice, Diggs rushed four times, and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss officially rushed three times, including a sack.
Lacey is the star of 2025. He entered the game rushing for 295 yards, 1,464 yards and 24 touchdowns including Thursday night’s run. He also had 28 catches for 173 yards. While Chambliss finished in the top 10 in Heisman voting, Lacy was equally important in a Mississippi State offense that reached the College Football Playoff for the first time.
