Fatal SR-4 crash in Tracy claims passenger’s life, driver arrested

(FOX40.COM) – A passenger was killed in a fatal crash on SR-4 in Tracy early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 9:30 a.m., a silver Nissan was traveling west on SR-4 just west of the Middle River Bridge. Witnesses said the driver of the Nissan drove recklessly and nearly collided head-on with eastbound traffic multiple times.

Eventually, officials said the driver of the Nissan lost control and went off the edge of the south lane, overturned and landed on its roof in the water.

Several people extricated the driver and passengers from the vehicle, according to the CHP.

The passenger was taken to San Joaquin County General Hospital, where he died.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into the county jail.
