FAA grounds all flights in El Paso, Santa Teresa due to security concerns

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued temporary flight restrictions, halting all flights to and from El Paso and neighboring Santa Teresa, New Mexico, according to city officials.

The restrictions, issued earlier on Wednesday, February 12, prohibit all aircraft operations, including commercial, cargo and general aviation flights, from 11:30 pm (IST) on February 10 to 11:30 pm (IST) on February 20.

Officials at El Paso International Airport said they have contacted the FAA and are awaiting more guidance. Commercial airlines operating in El Paso have been notified of the restrictions, which city officials said appear to be related to safety.
