Elon Musk’s SpaceX said to consider merger with Tesla, Bloomberg News reports

Jan 29 (Reuters) – Elon Musk’s SpaceX is considering a merger with Tesla and an alternative merger with artificial intelligence company xAI, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

After the report was released, Tesla’s stock price rose 3% after hours.

SpaceX and xAI are discussing merging to bring Musk’s rockets, Starlink satellites, X social media platform and Grok AI chatbot under one roof ahead of a massive public offering planned for later this year, Reuters exclusively reported earlier on Thursday.

The aerospace company has discussed the feasibility of a partnership between SpaceX and electric carmaker Tesla, and some investors are pushing the idea, according to Bloomberg.

Some people told Bloomberg that any deal would likely attract significant interest from infrastructure funds and Middle Eastern sovereign investors.

SpaceX and Tesla did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
