WASHINGTON/DETROIT, Jan 2 (Reuters) – Rio de Janeiro musician Julie Yukari posted a photo taken by her fiancé to the social media site X just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, showing her wearing a red dress and snuggling in bed with her black cat Nori.
The next day, among the hundreds of likes on the photo, she saw a notification from a user asking GronkX’s built-in AI chatbot, digitally strips her down to her bikini.

The 31-year-old told Reuters on Friday that she didn’t think much of it and thought it would be impossible for a robot to fulfill such a request.

French ministers have reported the disturbing images to prosecutors and regulators, saying in a statement on Friday that the “sexist and sexist” content was “clearly illegal”. India’s IT Ministry said in a letter to the local department of X that the platform failed to block GronkAbuse by generating and distributing obscene and pornographic content.
The FCC did not respond to a request for comment. The Federal Trade Commission declined to comment.

Three experts concerned about X’s policy on AI-generated explicit content told Reuters the company ignored warnings from civil society and child safety groups, including a letter sent last year warning that xAI was only a small step away from unleashing “a series of clearly non-consensual deepfake torrents.”
“In August, we warned that xAI’s image generation was essentially a naked tool waiting to be weaponized,” said Tyler Johnston, executive director of the AI watchdog group The Midas Project, one of the letter’s signatories. “That’s basically what happened.”
Dani Pinter, chief legal officer and director of the National Exploitation Center Legal Center, said X failed to extract abusive images from its artificial intelligence training materials and should ban users from requesting illegal content.
“This was a completely foreseeable and avoidable atrocity,” Pinter said.

Musician Yukari tries to fight back on her own. But when she went to the X website to protest this violation, a large number of imitators started asking Gronk Generate more explicit photos.
