Eagles to sign Pro Bowl CB Riq Woolen to one-year deal worth $15M

After a quiet first day, the Philadelphia Eagles got their man, agreeing to terms with former Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen on a one-year contract worth up to $15 million, Adam Schefter reports. We’ve previously looked at players the Eagles would target if there was no salary cap, and one of the big names to watch is Seahawks athletic cornerback Tarik Woolen. He has made several free agent lists, with PFF naming Philadelphia as his top option on the open market.

Tarik Woolen’s tools should appeal to the Eagles: Although reckless at times, Woolen possesses a measurability unmatched by a cornerback. Last season, he posted the second-highest lockout percentage in the NFL (65%).

The outside CB2 position is the weak link of the Eagles’ second line in 2025. Adoree Jackson struggled, earning a 54.1 PFF coverage grade, but his coverage rate was only 18%, which was the third-highest rate among cornerbacks with at least 400 coverage snaps last season.

Elite coverage has paved the way for the Eagles to reach the Super Bowl in 2024, and this potential signing offers the chance to reach those heights again.

Although reckless at times, Woolen possesses unparalleled measurements for a cornerback, ranking among the best in height (6-foot-4), arm length (34 inches) and speed (4.26-second 40-yard dash). Woolen is a legitimate starting cornerback with All-Pro potential and doesn’t turn 27 until May. His aggressive skills will allow Vic Fangio’s calls to be more flexible and aggressive.
