The Buffalo Bills have “reached out” to defensive end Trey Hendrickson, according to sources shared by Ryan Talbot. Henriksen is often regarded as one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL today, and despite interest from teams, he hasn’t found early success in free agency.
Hendrickson, 31, is looking for a lucrative salary, with some unconfirmed reports suggesting a salary of around $30 million per season or more. If true, One Bills Drive could be out of contention due to a salary cap challenge. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Hendricks isn’t willing to compromise on his salary demands, so he won’t accept a discounted deal at this time.

Jonathan Jones reported that teams he spoke with said “the gap between what (Hendrickson) wants and what they’re willing to pay is close to $10 million per year.” That’s a sizable gap, to be sure, and likely far higher than Buffalo’s goal of responsibly implementing 32 pass rushers by the end of 2026.
Still, not reaching out to Hendrickson seemed like malfeasance on the part of president of football operations and general manager Brandon Beane, who has said in the past that he always checks on talented players. In addition to his free-agent contract issues, Hendrickson was coming off a season in which he played just seven games and suffered a back injury that required surgery.
