Long before Todd Bowles had a Super Bowl title or two stints as an NFL head coach, he was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles and a member of Andy Reid’s 2012 coaching staff. However, his coaching experience goes far beyond that.
His next season as coach will be his 26th at football’s highest level. This is a journey that started in 2000. He has been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 2019 and has been their head coach since 2022.

There’s a lot we can glean from this information, but here are two highlights you may have already considered. First of all, he has seen and worked with many good coaches and he knows what a good coach is. Second, Josh Grizzard has been on his staff the past two NFL seasons.
You can see where this is going, right? The NFL Combine is almost here. All 32 NFL teams and their head coaches were in Indianapolis, and Bowles had some good things to say about the Eagles’ new passing game coordinator, including that he’s a “sharp guy” with “the best coaches right ahead of him.”
The views of people like Powers carry some weight. He worked under respected leaders and succeeded at the highest level. Praise from a coach with this pedigree doesn’t come randomly.

Coaches choose their words carefully or say nothing at all. That said, hearing this compliment is more than just small talk. This is a recognition.
