A 19-year-old driver was recently jailed after losing a tire while traveling on Interstate 10.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on March 15, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received a report of a vehicle traveling on the highway with an exposed left front rim. DPS said the driver drove on the edge for about 12 miles before coming to a stop at the Ina Road exit near Tucson.
DPS said the driver thought he was heading toward Tempe, but he was actually heading in the opposite direction toward downtown Tucson. A preliminary breath test showed the driver allegedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.217, well above Arizona’s legal limit.
The driver was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded, DPS said.
