Draymond Green is accusing some parts of the NBA media of hypocrisy regarding their treatment of former Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison.
The Golden State Warriors forward used his platform to highlight what he sees as a double standard in how front office decisions are judged.

His comments specifically focused on the fallout from the Luka Doncic trade and the shift in the narrative since. Greene made clear he believed an apology was overdue.

“A lot of people crushed Nico for the reasons he gave,” he said on Draymond Green’s show. [for trading Luka Doncic]. When Nico gave these reasons, everyone said, ‘He’s ridiculous, he’s crazy. ‘”
Green added: “Now, when I turn on the TV, all I see is the media crushing Nico Harrison, which essentially helped get him fired, repeating the same things Nico Harrison said.”

Green believes analysts who initially dismissed Harrison’s rationale now subscribe to similar basketball logic when evaluating roster construction and long-term planning.

The Warriors star continued: “I haven’t seen anyone step up and say, ‘Hey, Nico, I’m sorry for what I said about you when you made that move because I just had the same words come out of my mouth.'”
Green concluded: “This has nothing to do with Luka and everything to do with the media and Nico Harrison.
“Nico gave his reasons as general manager for why he thought it was the right move. Everybody was like, ‘You’re an idiot. You should be fired. Worst GM in NBA history.'”

The Warriors veteran put the issue down to blame rather than a basketball perspective. In his view, changing the narrative should be accompanied by acknowledgment when previous criticisms prove inconsistent.
It remains to be seen whether the media will respond directly, but Green’s comments have reignited the debate surrounding the original trade and its aftermath.
