Dorofeyev scores twice, Golden Knights snap 3-game slide with 6-2 win over Penguins

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Pavel Dorofeyev had two goals and an assist and the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 on Thursday night.

Vegas lost six of seven games, snapping a three-game losing streak that left them in third place in the Pacific Division.

Earlier in the night, Edmonton lost 7-2 in Dallas, leaving the Golden Knights in sole possession of second place. The Penguins remain tied with the New York Islanders in the Metropolitan Division.

After the first two quarters, the Golden Knights maintained a 3-2 lead. In the first four shots of the third quarter, goals from Dorofeev and Jack Eichel helped the Golden Knights score twice to open the score.

Dorofeev scored a career-high 54 points, two points more than last season.

Eichel also added an assist and scored his 24th goal of the season. He has six points in his past six games and has scored in three straight games.

Colton Sissons and Mitch Marner also scored for the Golden Knights, and Adin Hill made 24 saves. Marner also had an assist, while rookie Brayden Bowman had two assists.

Rikard Recker and Ben Kindl scored for Pittsburgh, and Artus Silovs stopped 11 shots.

The Penguins had won seven of their previous 10 games against Vegas (7-3-0), including a 5-0 victory in Pittsburgh on March 1 when the Cavaliers lost captain Mark Stone to an upper-body injury.

Stone returned to the lineup Thursday night after missing five games.
