The Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday signed All-Star third baseman Max Muncy to a one-year contract extension with an option through the 2028 season.
Muncy’s 2027 extension is worth $7 million, and his 2028 club option is worth $10 million. Earlier in the winter, the Dodgers picked up his $10 million option for the 2026 season.

The 35-year-old third baseman has expressed a desire to retire with the Dodgers during the regular season, but said he still has a few years left.
“I don’t think there’s any secret that I want to retire here,” Muncy told Doug McCain of L.A. Sports Report. “I’ve made that known.
“As for the outcome, I don’t have to worry about it yet.
“I hope I have a few more years left. … The goal is to focus on the here and now.”
Muncy spent eight of his 10 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Dodgers, making his first appearance for the team in the 2028 season.

In 2025, Muncy made a good case for his pick despite dealing with injuries in the second half of the season. In 100 games, Muncy hit 19 home runs, 67 RBIs and an OPS of .846.
The Dodgers’ third baseman will be locked up for at least two more seasons, and they hope to use his presence to continue their dominance in the NL West.
