Documents state that on Saturday, Dec. 27, North Las Vegas police received a report that a customer had stabbed an employee. Gerald Carter is accused of “stabbing the employee multiple times in the back and side.”
Police found two men and several others leaving the restaurant and took them into custody. When they arrested Gerald Carter, police found a large knife in his pocket, they said.
According to witnesses, Gerald Carter was “upset by the gravy at KFC” and asked to speak to a manager, documents state. At some point, Gerald Carter believed “the employees were disrespecting him,” which led to him and James Carter getting into an argument with employees “behind the KFC counter.”
During an interview with police, Gerald Carter admitted to fighting with an employee but denied stabbing anyone, documents said. Gerald Carter said the employee “was abusive and disrespectful to him” before the fight.
As of Tuesday, both men remained in custody at the North Las Vegas Jail. In court Tuesday, North Las Vegas Court Judge Jonathan Cooper set bail at $100,000 for Gerald Carter and $10,000 for James Carter. If they post bail, the men will be required to wear ankle monitors, Cooper ordered.
Representatives for KFC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
