The Detroit Lions will interview Seattle Seahawks offensive passing game coordinator Jake Peetz for their offensive coordinator vacancy, according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Pitts, 42, has spent the past two seasons with the Seahawks as offensive passing game coordinator.
The Seahawks went 14-3 in the regular season and defeated San Francisco in Week 18 to win the NFC West, becoming the NFC’s top seed and earning a first-round bye in this year’s playoffs.

Working alongside Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Pitts and the Seahawks have the NFL’s eighth-ranked total offense (351 yards per game), eighth-ranked passing offense (228.1 passing yards per game) and third-ranked scoring offense (28.4 points per game).
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold ranks fifth in the league with 4,048 passing yards. Darnold has thrown for 25 touchdowns. Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 119 passes for 1,793 yards and 10 scores.
In 2024, Pitts oversaw a passing game in Seattle that saw Geno Smith throw for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Prior to joining Seattle, Pitts worked for Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, serving as the Rams’ offensive assistant in 2022 and then as the Rams’ pass rush specialist in 2023.

In 2023, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns. Then-Rams rookie receiver Puka Nacua set NFL rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486).
A Nebraska alum, Pitts also served as LSU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2021. Pitts began his coaching career at Santa Barbara City College in 2006 before joining UCLA in 2007 as a defensive assistant.
Pitts worked in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ scouting department from 2008-11 before transitioning to the Jaguars’ assistant quarterbacks coach position.
Other NFL stops include Washington (offensive quality control coach) in 2014, Oakland (assistant quarterbacks coach/quarterbacks coach) from 2015-17 and Carolina (running backs coach/quarterbacks coach) from 2019-20. Pitts also worked for Nick Saban at Alabama in 2013 and 2018 as an offensive analyst.
