SEATTLE (AP) — Ben Meyers scored a career-high sixth goal and the Seattle Kraken beat the Hurricanes 2-1 on Monday night, ending Carolina’s 12-game scoring streak.
Kaapo Kakko also scored for the Kraken, while Joey Daccord was outstanding with 35 saves. Seattle defender Adam Larson had two assists.

Carolina has won five straight games and seven of eight. It was the Mets Division leader’s first loss since a 4-3 overtime loss to Washington on Jan. 31 and their first regular-season loss since a 3-0 loss in St. Louis on Jan. 13.
Seattle avenged a 3-2 loss to Carolina in January and moved into third place in the Pacific Division, one game ahead of Edmonton with a game in hand against the Oilers.
Meyers, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Kraken last week, put Seattle up 2-0 when he fired a backhand shot around goaltender Frederik Andersen midway through the second period.
With 1:30 left in the second period, Nikolaj Ehlers fired a wrist shot past Daccord to make it 2-1 for Carolina.

That was all the offense the Hurricanes could muster, although they came out strong after Seattle’s Eeli Tolvanen was hit with a penalty with 1:29 left. Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour pulled goalie Frederik Andersen to establish a 6-on-4 advantage, but Daccord and the Kraken held their ground.
Kakko scored early in the second period, firing a wrist shot just under Anderson’s right shoulder.
Anderson finished with 13 saves.
