Cyberpunk 2 Said to Launch in Q4 2030, The Witcher 3 Tipped to Get Third Paid Expansion Next Year

Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, Cyberpunk 2, is currently in development at CD Projekt Red and is reportedly five years away from release. According to a Polish analyst firm, the RPG game may be released in late 2030. If the schedule is correct, Cyberpunk 2 will be released on next-gen consoles.

CD Projekt Red has yet to reveal release plans for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, but has confirmed that the game is in pre-production. “Cyberpunk 2” has not yet entered full-scale production, and most of the studio’s employees are busy working on “The Witcher 4.”

While there is little official information about the RPG, Polish analyst firm Noble Securities (via TechPowerUp) estimates that the game will launch in the fourth quarter of 2030. This release window will also commemorate the tenth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077, which was released on December 10, 2020.

The company also claims that Cyberpunk 2’s budget has increased to PLN 1.5 billion ($416 million), which is also in line with The Witcher 4’s reported production budget.

The Witcher 3 paid DLC and other items

CD Projekt Red has a ton of games coming out in the coming years. The Witcher 4 is the top priority and is believed to be targeting a 2027 release. Noble Securities said the game will launch in the fourth quarter of 2027. CD Projekt has ambitious plans to release a new trilogy of The Witcher games over six years, starting with The Witcher 4.

In addition, the Polish developer plans to release a complete remake of The Witcher (codenamed Canis Majoris) and a multiplayer The Witcher spin-off (Sirius). According to the analyst firm, these games may be released in 2028. There’s also CD Projekt’s new IP Project Hadar, which has reportedly been delayed to 2032.

Finally, the company also claims that CD Projekt Red is working on a surprise paid DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that will be released next year. Considered one of the greatest games of all time, The Witcher 3 received two major paid expansion packs: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. But according to Noble Securities, the critically acclaimed RPG’s third paid expansion will be released in May 2026, 10 years after the release of Blood & Wine.

CD Projekt has not confirmed any further DLC for The Witcher 3. The company has yet to reveal a release schedule for the project it is developing. The studio did provide a development update on Cyberpunk 2 last month, reiterating that CD Projekt Red’s Boston-based team of more than 80 employees is working on the game.

“We plan to expand the Boston-based Cyberpunk team as the project progresses, doubling its size over the next two years,” CD Projekt co-CEO MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski said in the company’s third-quarter 2025 financial report.

The sequel to “Cyberpunk 2077” gave up the codename “Project Orion” and entered the pre-production stage in May. However, Nowakovsky did not provide an update on the next phase of Cyberpunk 2 production in his statement last month.

“We are pleased with the progress the CP2 team has made to date, but it is certainly premature to talk about moving into any next phase of the project. Of course, we will make appropriate updates and announcements at that time,” he said.
