Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong takes random shot at his hometown Dodgers fans: Cubs ‘fans give a s***’

Pete Crow-Armstrong is the son of a Chicago Cubs fan in Los Angeles.

He went to Dodgers games as a kid, but claims he was never a fan because his father was strict about it. Here’s what Crow-Armstrong wrote in an article for The Players’ Tribune in September:

Growing up in Los Angeles, my dad gave me a few rules.

1) I can’t root for the Dodgers.

2) I can’t root for the Cardinals.

Crowe-Armston, 23, the Cubs’ star outfielder, openly expressed disdain — not for the Dodgers, but for their fans. Here’s a Chicago Magazine feature on Crowe-Armstrong published Monday:

“I’m growing to love Chicago,” Crowe-Armstrong said. “This is an unbelievable city. The people here are great. They give ***.

“They’re not just baseball fans like Dodgers fans who go to games and take pictures or do other things. They’re paying attention. They care.”

The shot aimed at a Dodgers fan appeared to have been fired from left field. At least there’s no context in the story. Crowe-Armstrong apparently decided to take a swipe at his hometown sports fans while talking about his adjustment to Chicago and his growing love for the city.

He’s not the first. Taking shots at Southern California sports fans is a time-honored tradition in a city that prides itself on its working-class roots, especially in colder climes.

Just look at the mild sports fans out there who have nice weather and something to do besides watch the games. So the metaphor goes like this.

Bottom line: This should perform well in Chicago. The young player who captured the collective hearts of the North End during his breakout season in 2025 has certainly further endeared himself to Cubs fans.
