A Connecticut man has been extradited from New York to face sexual assault charges involving four teenagers.
Francisco Javier Gomez, 22, of Norwalk, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of unlawful sexual contact resulting in risk of harm to a minor, two counts of second-degree sexual assault involving a victim between 13 and 15 years old, first-degree possession of child pornography, employing a minor for an obscene performance and risk of harm to a minor, and one count of first-degree sexual assault using force or threats, and first-degree sexual assault with a victim under 13 years old. Norwalk Police Department.
Police said they began investigating in April 2024, when New York’s Putnam County Sheriff’s Office notified the police department’s Special Victims Unit that investigators arrested Gomez and charged him with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old. New York investigators said they found evidence that similar behavior may have occurred in Norwalk.
Norwalk Police said English assumed responsibility for the investigation and worked with investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office in Stamford Superior Court, and federal partners from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security. The investigation included multiple search warrants and led investigators to obtain one charging Gomez with sex crimes in Norwalk involving four teenage victims, according to police.
Police said Gomez pleaded guilty to charges under the New York investigation and is serving a prison sentence, and authorities in Connecticut reached a deal to extradite him to that state so he could serve the remainder of his sentence while the Connecticut charges were pending. Norwalk detectives traveled to Marcy, N.Y., on Tuesday to transport Gomez to Connecticut.
Gomez has been held on $250,000 bail and is expected to appear before a judge in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
