Ronaldo, 41, moved to Saudi Arabia at the end of 2022 to play for Al-Nassr.

“My long-term goal is to contribute to football off the pitch. Almeria FC is a Spanish club with solid foundations and clear potential for growth,” Ronaldo said in a statement.

According to the Braunschweig group, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner bought Almeria’s stake through its subsidiary CR7 Sports Investments.

Almeria has been controlled by Saudi Arabian owners for more than six years. Mohamed Al-Khereiji acquired the club from Turki Al Alsheikh in the summer of 2025 and became the club’s new owner and chairman.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Almeria currently sit third in Spain’s Segunda División. Most recently in the 2023-24 season in the First Division.
